The Jardin apartment
(1 double bedroom, sleeps 2)
The Jardin apartment is a bright, sunny, one-bedroom duplex on the ground and first floor in its own wing of the main house. Its front door leads from the house’s entrance hall to the living room, with its traditional terra cotta tiled floor.
The furnishings reflect the apartment’s name: well-cushioned cane armchairs, an ivy-decorated glass dining table and chairs, a Beryl Cook print of a typical chubby family at a garden centre. The television receives English, French and international channels. French windows give onto a small private terrace furnished with another table and chairs, screened from the rest of the garden by a pergola.
An oak staircase leads up to a light, double aspect bedroom which overlooks the garden and has impressive views of several 16th century stone towers, including ours, and can be made up with one kingsize or two single beds. There is a pine wardrobe and chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and a desk. The large, bright bathroom has a full-size bath with shower taps and a shower curtain, and a vanitory unit with a washbasin. Next to it is a separate loo.
